2010/2011 USC Odyssey of the Mind Results
USC Odyssey of the mind Pennsylvania State results
On
the April 9th PA Odyssey of the Mind competition, two of the four teams
representing USC earned the right to attend the World Finals!
The
High School division III team coached by Susan Rosati placed 1st at the
State competition in their division and problem, Le Tour Guide. The
Team also received the Coveted Ranatra Fusca Award because of their
exceptional creativity. Their Ranatra nomination states: This team
showed exceptional creativity in a visually dynamic performance that
left the judges amazed. The team used a combination of ingenious design,
acrobatics and one extremely versatile set to present a series of
special effects that needed to be seen to be believed.
Congratulations to team members Paul Austin, Marissa Bowman, Erin
Perelstine, Chloe Roberts, Kelsey Roberts, Anna Rosati, and Alexa
Schlein.
Out of the 177 teams competing at the State OM
competition, only 4 Ranatra Awards were given out – two were given to
USC teams! Our other Team earning the prestigious Ranatra Fusca Award
and a place at the Worlds competition is the Middle School division II
team coached by Sharon Byrnes in problem, Good As Gold…berg. Their
Ranatra nomination states: This team demonstrated exceptional
creativity and took great risk in their decision to present a
non-linguistic solution, using (caveman) grunts as their means of
communication. Not only did they successfully emulate the period, the
body language, intonation & inflection, they had us all rolling in
the aisles. Good luck and congratulation to team members Bendan
Allen, Connor Byrnes, Liam Carse, Arushi Kewalramani, Abigail Shoemaker,
and Vicki Wang.
